China has committed to continue working with Zimbabwe in its quest for national development.
This was said by Chinese Foreign Minister and Chinese State Councillor Wang Yi as he met Zimbabwe`s Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Ambassador Frederick Shava in Senegal on Sunday.
The meeting was a preparatory process for the forthcoming Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which will be held in Dakar.
“China stands ready to fully tap the potential of mutually beneficial cooperation with Zimbabwe to help it make greater progress in development of construction ,” said Minister Wang.
China and Zimbabwe have good relations which date back to the days of the liberation struggle.
“Zimbabwe is a supporter and participant of FOCAC as a result China will announce a series of new measures for practical cooperation with Zimbabwe and looks forward to seeing Zimbabwe play a positive role in the success of the forum,” Minister Wang said.
Foreign Minister Shava thanked the Chinese for their continued support of Zimbabwe.
He congratulated the Communist party of China on the centenary of its founding.
“Zimbabwe appreciates China’s support for Zimbabwe to achieve economic transformation, and that Zimbabwe pursues a Look East policy and will continue to extend mutual support with China,” said Minister Shava
