“My aspirations are that we prepare festivities to not only celebrate my new office as PAP president but to thank His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the support that he gave me through out the campaign.
Ever since the inception of the Pan African Parliament in 2004 it was difficult for the presidency to come to Southern Africa as it was dominated by Francophone, Arab and Lusophone countries. For me to win this election, Our President Mnagagwa had assisted immensely to the campaign.
I am hereby assigning the Mourners and Fan Club to write a song to thank the President which shall be sung on the day, to show our appreciation for his support towards my presidency in the PAP,” said Chief Charumbira.
In attendance were his family members, ZANU-PF Central Committee member and Senator Cde Maina Mandava, ZANU-PF Central Committee member for Zaka, Retired Brigadier-General Livingstone Chineka, Former Provincial Secretary for Health Cde Zvapano Munganasa, National Youth Service Graduates (NYSGA) Provincial Commander Tavara Mudukuti, ZANU-PF National Mourners and Fan Club and subjects from the Charumbira Chiefdom.
Senator Cde Mandava said that she herself comes from a chief’s family and appreciates that this is a great honour for a traditional chief to be able to stand at the helm of a Continental body that interacts with leaders of the Africa.
“The respect Zimbabwe will get regionally and globally now falls heavy on Chief Charumbira’s shoulders. We do not fear for him because if President Mnangagwa saw it fit for Chief Charumbira to be president of the Chief’s Council and to be Chief’s representative in the house of Senate, then he knew what he was doing supporting Chief Charumbira to be president of PAP.
As a nation we shall be honoured when we visit other countries because this victory was for Zimbabwe as a people and Africa as a whole. This gives us pride and joy and for that we must thank the Second Republic for its engagement and re-engagement policies which softened relations ahead of campaigns for PAP presidential elections.
Festivities were then carried on the next day at Chief Charumbira’s Homestead in Charumbira where ZANU-PF Provincial Chairman Robson Mavhenyengwa , Nemamwa RDC Chair Mr.Mangena, Ward 12 Councillor Cde Todd Nyengera and all the Headman under Chief Charumbira were in attendance.
The Chief’s sister, ZANU-PF Womens League Masvingo Provincial Executive member Cde Thandiwe Jairos and Mrs Eritah Moyo told TateguruTV that the ascension of their brother Chief Charumbira to PAP has brought joy to their family and the chiefdom.
“I am so proud of him and as a family we are grateful towards President Mnangagwa for standing by my brother who is bringing a new title and level of honour.
We never knew of this Pan African Parliament and only now are we starting to understand what it is all about thanks to having one of our own at the helm of it. Chief Charumbira has always been an smart ands intelligent man growing up, he has always made moves ahead of his time and we believe he will deliver the results that will make Zimbabwe ans a nation proud and respected in the PAP,” said Mrs Moyo.
Cde Jairos told TateguruTV that the Chief’s Victory is Presidnet Mnangagwa’s Victory .
“If it wasn’t for President Mnangagwa we wouldn’t have made it to PAP president. It is important that we understand that the Chief’s victory is President Mnangagwa’s Victory as it reflects our yearn not only to develop Zimbabwe, but to condition Africa towards self sustained growth. Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo,” said Cde Jairos.

Cde Mavhenyengwa told TateguruTV that Chief Charumbira is a hard worker and his achievements at PAP will pave the way for President Mnangagwa.
“As ZANU-PF Provincial Leadership we are happy because the presidential seat at PAP has come to Masvingo. Chief Charumbira hs always supported President Mnangagwa and his vision and with this victory my job as chairman of the province will be easier. PAP exposes the chief to many friends of the nationalist revolution in Zimbabwe who helm from a Pan African background.
When the time comes we shall see more votes for President Mnangagwa in Masvingo Provinvce in appreciation for raising one of our own,” said Cde Mavhenyengwa.
The Pan African Parliament also known as African Parliament is the legislative body of the African Union (AU) and held its inaugural session on March 2004.
PAP exercises oversight and has advisory and consultative powers lasting for the first five years.
