Following his false rants on SABC News that he is being banned from holding rallies, Nelson Chamisa was left with an egg on his face after a poorly attended rally at Mucheke stadium this weekend.
It is the same 2000 seater Mucheke Stadium which was filled beyond capacity during the recently held Defense Forces Day commemorations on August 9, 2022.
In comparison, optics hint towards a plummet in sympathy rather than support for the CCC leader, and his rebranded party from the people of Masvingo.

Nelson Chamisa who intended to capitalise on the euphoria of military displays performed at the same venue went on to masquerade as a soldier during his speech at Mucheke.

“I was laughing the other day that my big brother President Emmerson Mnangagwa doesn’t know the truth, but Vice President CDGN Chiwenga does.

I grew up in Manyame Airbase, drinking non-alcoholic drinks in the Airman’s Mess and Sargent’s Mess. There is nothing anyone can teach me about the military,” said Chamisa.

“Most of you are not aware, but when I left Gutu I had intended to join the military as a pilot.

I even took the medical tests and interviews only to get cold feet at the last moment fearing death during training.
But they all know that when they talk to me they speak to a soldier,” added Chamisa.

The lawyer and part time pastor has made many false claims during speeches like these and the low turn out at his appreciation rally for support during the by-election could be a sign that people are awakening to the dangers of his silver tongue.
