CCC apologetic for lying

The Nelson Chamisa led opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change ( CCC) has released a statement addressing certain false details they made earlier.
This comes after the party made headlines alleging that their leader, Nelson Chamisa, escaped an assassination attempt when his convoy came under a bomb attack in the town of Chinhoyi, about 115km (71 miles) west of the capital, Harare.
They also went on to claim that Chamisa’s convoy was attacked with explosives as it approached the venue of a rally and that the venue was also petrol-bombed on Saturday by unknown people.
Duping it as a political attack, they then blamed ZANUPF and managed to release a motor-vehicle registration number which they alleged was among those responsible of the explosion.
However, in a statement by the party’s spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, she exposed the lies the party made in their report.
“We make reference to a statement we published on September 11, 2022, arising out of a widely reported incident occurred at Gadzema grounds in Chinhoyi on that same day. The incident concerned an incendiary or explosives thrown at motorcade of our Change Champion in Chief, Nelson Chamisa as he approached the entrance of the venue to address a rally. The report as narrated to our information department reflected a motor- vehicle registration number AFA1651 which upon further inquiry and investigation is incorrect. However, the broad description of the vehicle is accurate as far as is understood.”
She went on to say, “Steps are being taken to verify the correct registration number of the silver car that was seen by eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident and the ZRP are being informed of this error to aid their investigation. We understand that the Police have taken witness statements. To that end we are endeavoring to assist the ZRP with their inquiries to ensure the culprits are brought to book.”
