The National Railways of Zimbabwe and ZUPCO have introduced commuter trains in Bulawayo.

The initial route will be will from Cowdray Park to the City Centre.

Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honorable Judith Ncube launched the inaugural trip.

The move is in line with the Government’s priority for a decent, adequate and efficient public transport system.

Under the agreement with Zupco, NRZ is hiring out locomotive coaches to Zupco.

NRZ provides the engine men while collection of fares is done by Zupco conductors.

The railway services are expected to be rolled over to all towns across the country to decongest roads and bring more options to commuters.
