Beitbridge armed robbers nabbed

Four suspected armed robbers yesterday appeared before a Beitbridge magistrate facing eleven counts of armed robbery.

This year alone, between July and November the armed robbers were involved in a spat of robberies in the border town and managed to get away with R1,745 850, US$48,224, jewellery , mobile phones and laptops of which nothing has been ee.

The accused are Julius Chibharo(36) of Dulivhadzimo, Marshall Mutekwa(27) of Gweru, Charles Chekenyere (24) of Masvingo and Arnold Musimudzwa (29) of Macheke. They are said to have used the money to buy houses and cars.

Alick Muzvenyenyi and Moses are part of the gang and are on the run. They are also accused of the murder of Chivi businessman. However another member of the gang Freeman Ndudzo has been arrested.

In addition to the above allegations, the gang is also facing money laundering charges after spending the stolen money on different items such as houses and personal gadgets,
The quartet are also facing charges under the Firearms Control Act for unlawfully smuggling guns into the irony from South Africa
