The Zimbabwe Artisinal MIners Association has rebranded and will now be called Miners Forum for Economic Development, in a move aimed at contributing towards the attainment of the National Development Strategy 1.
This was revealed by Miss Constance Muchoni the leader and president of the now re-branded association at a press conference at ZANU OF Headquarters in Harare yesterday.
Revealing that their association has been in existence but was merely morphing to another name to play a more central role in the growth of Zimbabwe, Miss Muchoni said;, “Allow me to start by stating that Miners Forum for ED is an organisation that has already been existent using the name *Zimbabwe Artisanal Miners Association*.
Through consultations and infusion of ideas from our leadership and fellow Comrades in the economic development revolution we have re-branded to Miners Forum for Economic Development in support for our President’s Vision 2030. Through the National Development Strategy 1 we are playing our part as Artisanal Miners and contributing towards the development of our country. “
Miss Muchoni said that as Miners Forum for ED they are going to move around all provinces registering all artisanal miners and help them in regularising their mining projects with the help of the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and all other relevant government institutions and departments.
She said that as artisanal miners they felt that they had been left out in rallying support for President Cde E.D Mnangagwa’s vision.
Miss Muchoni said they were going mobilise all miners to vote for the President and the ruling party ZANU PF in the coming 2023 harmonised elections.
“As Miners Forum for ED we are in full support of Vision2030 and we want our President Cde E.D Mnangagwa to continue leading us towards an upper middle income economy. As you are aware, ZANU PF in the Second Republic is moving with the Mantra Economic Development, Building our nation Brick by Brick.
In this regard, our thrust as Miners Forum for ED is to represent the interest of all stakeholders in Mining ensuring that they are not left behind under the able leadership of our President Cde E.D Mnangagwa progresses in advancing our economy and particularly of interest to us advancing Economic Development within Mining Sector. Our thrust is to mobilize Youth, Women and all those involved and interested in mining towards the attainment of Vision 2030,” she said.
