Apostolic Sect beliefs cost the lives of 35 children in Hurungwe

An apostolic sect in Hurungwe is under scrutiny following 35 member children dying in a space of a month.
The plight of members from the apostolic sect was exposed by a member parent who had brought his children, 2 of which showed signs of measles and 2 having mumps for treatment at Karoi Hospital.
The deaths and sickness are caused by their apostolic sect beliefs, which barres them from seeking medical assistance.
The period of deaths had been recorded within the month of April 2024. Members who have since passed away were recorded to be from:
Nduna household 7 children, Magara village 5 children, Mutashu family 2 children, Chikonamombe family 2 children and Kaitano family 2 children.
The district CPU met today, and a team was structured to visit the shrine and engage them for members to be allowed to seek medical attention.
The group has not been responsive as they are rejecting medical help. One child who was critical was hospitalised, and most of the children suffering from symptoms of Measles ran away when the team arrived at the shrine.
