Yesterday evening, July 29, 2021, another consignment of 700000 Sinopharm vaccines arrived at the Robert Mugabe International Airport.

This makes the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses received in the country so far reach 6,875 million.
This consignment takes the total vaccine delivery this week to 1.5 million as 800,000 doses arrived earlier on.

The Government is expediting the procurement of vaccines as the number of people getting vaccinated each day increases immensely making the urgent goal of achieving herd immunity attainable.

To date 1,593,656 people have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while 730,378 people have been fully vaccinated.
Vaccine acquisition has been placed top of government priority list as the government recognises total vaccination as the quickest way for the country to return to normalcy.

At the current rate, people of Zimbabwe should take comfort in knowing that government has an elaborate vaccine acquisition plan in place to ensure that all citizens have unhindered access to life saving jabs.

People continue to show up in big numbers to get vaccinated and yesterday alone saw 31,371 get their first dose.

As of July 29, the country was at 105,656 confirmed cases and 3,421 deaths. The country’s recovery rate stood at 69% with 2,011 new recoveries recorded.

Citizens are urged to continue observing strict Covid-19 protocols and lockdown measures as the level four lockdown is still in place.
