The delayed AFCON 2021 soccer finals will now be held between January 09 – February 06 2022 in Cameroon.
The newly elected Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Mr Patrice Motsepe announced the new dates in a virtual meeting held on the 31st of March 2021.

This year’s CAF competition was delayed due to the Covid-19 induced restrictions which saw all high-risk competitive sports put on ice for prolonged periods.

“The Executive Committee unanimously approved the proposed dates for the organisation of the draw, (June 25, 2021) and the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2021 Cameroon final tournament (January 9 to February 6, 2022).” reads the statement.

CAF President also indicated, regarding the challenges presented by Covid-19 and PCR test currently required during competition, that discussions have been initiated to set up, in collaboration with the WHO, independent bodies in charge of carrying out the tests before the matches, especially given the CAN Total Cameroon 2021.

Zimbabwe qualified for this year’s edition of the AFCON tournament, with a game in hand, after beating the Zebras of Botswana 0-1.
A second-tier Zimbabwe side was later humbled when they lost their final match to Zambia by 0-2 margin at the giant National Sports Stadium.
The Warriors were later joined by Malawi to become the twin representatives of the Southern African region after the Flames beat the Cranes of Uganda 1-0 in Blantyre in their last game of the qualifiers.
