The Lions Club, a global charity with a footprint in Zimbabwe, donated prosthetic limbs to a hyena attack victim in Zaka District.

Muchanyarara Munodya lost both her hands in August 2022 after a clan of hyenas attacked her.

She was attacked in Bota communal lands in Zaka district while trying to rescue her husband, who was first attacked.

Although the wounds have healed, she has been struggling to perform basic tasks due to her new circumstances.

Today she got a chance to return to her old life when she received the prosthetic hands at Camp David in Chiredzi.

The handover event was themed “Restoring hope for hyena victim programme”.

After receiving her new hands, Munodya thanked Lions Club for remembering her and restoring her hope.

The pair of prosthetic hands costs USD150, which will go a long way in assisting her in her day-to-day activities.

According to the immediate past president of Lions Club Harare, Lion Bigboy Madzivanzira, physical rehabilitation is not enough for Munodya. “There will be a need for mental rehabilitation after the physical rehabilitation,” said Madzivanzira.

This donation will help her move on from the traumatic event and start a new chapter in her life.
