Preparations for this year’s edition of the Twalumba National Travel Tourism Awards have reached a crescendo following the announcement of the dates for the main ceremony.
The awards ceremony which is set for February 24, 2023, have continued to receive overwheming support from tourism players and business alike.
Speaking to this publication on the state of preparedness for the event, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Head of Corporate Affairs Godfrey Chief Koti was excited that preparations are going on smoothly and that the event continues to receive the necessary support to be a success.
“The issue is that the Twalumna National Tourism and Travel Awards will be held on February 24, 2023 in Harare. We are ready to host the awards in collaboration with industry players, with the TBCZ in particular leading the charge,” he said.
“Preparation are already at fever pitch as we count down to the big day of the awards. But most importantly, as ZTA, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to industry players for supporting the awards in various ways. I would therefore like to give special recognition for the effort they have put into the preparations for these Awards,” Koti continued.
Twalumba National Tourism and Travel Awards is a culmination of a process of bringing together a fragmented Award system which saw various Tourism bodies offering their own separate awards, a system that promoted duplication of roles and recognition in an industry not so big as Zimbabwe Tourism.
Said Koti;
“At inception there were various fragmented industry awards, with the ZTA holding their own Tourism and Travel Awards while the TBCZ organised another parallel award system. This the need to harmonise the awards and bring everyone under the same banner for me big Awards ceremony that is befitting of efforts expended by various nominees from across the tourism and travel sector.”
The amalgamation of the awards system is expected to add prestige and glitter to the ceremony and as such this year’s edition can only promise fireworks.
