By Yvonne Mutambwa
Cabinet applauds the progress made in the country’s preparations to host the 44th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government in August 2024.
This was said by Dr Jenfan Muswere during the post cabinet briefing this Tuesday in Harare.
Considerable progress has however been achieved in the rehabilitation of roads to the New Parliament.
The Summit will be hosted at the New Parliament Building in the New City at Mt Hampden. A week prior to the Summit, the county will host the SADC Industrialization week.
“The bulk of the preparatory works are underway and the project will be completed within the scheduled time frame.
“Plans are a foot to beautify the City of Harare from the Robert Mugabe Airport to the New City,” said Minister Muswere.
However, the private sector, including small and medium enterprises, is encouraged to participate in the various committees involved in preparations for the successful hosting of the Summit.
The Summit is expected to run from August 17 to 18, and President Mnangagwa will assume the Chairmanship position when Zimbabwe takes over leadership of the regional body for a year.
