Covid-19 related deaths across the country have surpassed hundred over the last seven days. The highest figure since January when the country battled the second wave of the pandemic.
Zimbabwe, which is in the middle of a third wave, recorded 142 deaths over the past 7 days between June 28 to July 4.
Of the 142 deaths, 19 deaths were reported yesterday, with the highest number of deaths being 33 which was recorded on July 2, 2021.
Despite the recently announced Level 4 lockdown, the numbers of deaths are still a cause of concern as this shows that the citizens have become complacent and not complying with the lockdown restrictions.
The Government has engaged law enforcements to intensify their operations to ensure that the public comply with the lockdown restrictions which were put in place to curb the spread of the virus.
Government is also encouraging citizens to get vaccinated as Covid-19 vaccines are in abundance –for free- across the country.
The number of new cases are also a sign of the public not complying with lockdown restrictions. Yesterday alone, 809 new cases were recorded being the number of active cases on 12357.
