President Emerson Mnangagwa today received his second SinoVac Covid-19 vaccine shot at Kwekwe General Hospital.

SinoVac protocols require that one gets two shots separated by four weeks, and the head of state has gone through the full process.

President Mnangagwa was accompanied by his deputy and Minister of Health and Child Care (Rtd) General Constantino Chiwenga.

Addressing the gathering at Kwekwe General Hospital before his second shot, President Mnangagwa said he is encouraged by the ongoing uptake of the vaccine among the target groups in both phases.

So far, totals exceeding 300,000 have received the first dose while above 36,000 have received the second jab.

President Mnangagwa said people should not get complacent, if we are to win the battle against Covid-19.

“Our investigations have revealed that some of the infections affecting some boarding schools are a result of some learners going home over Easter in defiance to Government directive,” he said.

The President also announced that the resort city of Victoria Falls has now achieved her immunity.

Also, President Mnangangwa was accompanied by POLAD members including Leader of the Opposition Senator Douglas Mwonzora and LEAD leader, Linda Masarira, among others.

They all completed their vaccination program since they all got the first jab with the President in Victoria Falls.
